Pomegranate-Margaritas-023

Today is May 1st and that means that Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner. I don’t know about you, but it’s one of my favorite days of the year. I love all things Mexican when it comes to food and drink

It’s also no secret that I love tequila cocktails. The Paloma is one of my favorites, but the Margarita is a close second. I love the combination of salty and tart that you get with a traditional margarita. I wanted to go out of the box this week and give you some ideas that go beyond traditional. I am teaming up with Powell and Mahoney Vintage Original Cocktail Mixers to bring you a couple of great margarita recipes.

First up is a Pomegranate Margarita! It’s an easy to make cocktail that packs a sweet-tart punch. I created this version using Powell and Mahoney’s Pomegranate Mixer, a “simple crisp, refreshing” mixer that makes creating yummy cocktails at home super fast and super delicious! To the mixer, I added silver tequila, triple sec and lime juice. And for a fun spin, I made ice cubes from orange juice. There’s no watered down drink going on here!

This cocktail is perfect for your Cinco de Mayo happy hour. It would be delicious with any traditional Mexican fare. From burritos to tacos and quesadillas to chile rellenos, this Pomegranate Margarita is a great choice of beverage to balance the savory heat of your favorite Mexican food.
