Shirley Temple
The Shirley Temple is one of the all-time iconic mocktails. Make this beloved drink with a Ginger Ale that uses cane sugar, P&M True Grenadine, and a bright red Maraschino cherry.
Do you remember the first “cocktail” you ever had? It probably involved a tasty, cherry-topped treat your parents ordered for you at a restaurant. We bet if you think back, you’ll recall being amazed by the first sip of a Shirley Temple!
There are several stories surrounding the invention of this fun and festive nonalcoholic drink. Most cocktail historians attribute the recipe to a Hollywood restaurant called Chasen’s. It was a hub for celebrities from 1936 until 1995. The drink was created for the actress it is named for, as a sweet little sipper for her to enjoy when she dined there with her parents.
While the origin of this nonalcoholic cocktail might be debated, the crisp, sweet taste has universal appeal. It’s a great way to serve something special to kids, designated drivers, expectant moms, or people who just like a fun beverage without alcohol.
The Shirley Temple is light and refreshing, and makes the perfect warm weather treat. It contains just a couple ingredients: ice, ginger ale, and grenadine, topped with a bright red Maraschino cherry.
